Windows by default does it. But I can try to look for a plugin
It’s for uploads and downloads only.
Don’t worry, I moved that topic
i noticed that the forum is blocked by techloq
anything to do?
I am on the forums right now on techloq.
What happens when you request it?
When I open that I get a block page for a second and then it opens the forums.
Who is your filters admin? Tag or Techloq?
its techloq, i don’t how much i could do because i am using it at a kiosk
Kiosks have different policies
Same here I’m using the same filter and that page blocks for a second and opens.
It’s honestly good to see people switched over to Techloq over all the other ones that are literally useless. Not that this filter is perfect but definitely the best of the bunch.
Update: Inactive users with trust level 0 and 0 posts automatically get their account deleted after 2 weeks.
Starting today.
Update: when editing a post, you are now required to give a reason. Makes sense… No? Make it short, such as “spelling fix” “i was wrong and I’m ashamed” “that was stupid” etc.
Whats the point of that?
This would mean that someone who opened an account and so far just looked around here once or twice is less likely to come back and become a regular user.
It would also push away users who just come every once in a while, who might not usually post, just like, report, dm etc., and people who just browse and don’t participate at all, deleting their account pushes them away.
We want passive users also, because they help spread the word about the forum (and about eGate - more sales for FlipAdmin.)
Someone who has an account is more likely to come back and stay then someone who doesn’t.
In short, we want all users here, no matter how active they are or how much they contribute, and deleting accounts pushes people away.
100 percent the reason @TripleU put this feature on is to block bots but I think it would be better to remove this completely or tweak it somehow
What do we care if there are inactive bots that don’t post?
dunno
Listen. Please. Listen.
The only thing these guys gotta do is be online for 5 minutes - total, enter 5 topics, and post once - over 2 weeks.
Now these users who didn’t do that - AREN’T BANNED! they can anytime create a new account with one Google sign in click!
If a user cannot do any of these things - they can get deleted - so I know the real amount of members there are on the forums.
If you think that a lesser amount of users would scare away new users, then I could hide the user page from the public.
The main point is - if you seriously cannot do any of the mentioned options - then don’t login. You can visit as a guest.
There are also emails that are sent, which can get annoying for people who don’t really wanna log in.
I hope you get it, and I made that decision with thinking a bit.
(Don’t feel discouraged that there aren’t many users - don’t live in denial…)
Thanks for mentioning this context. I think most of us didnt remember getting to trust level 1 was this simple.
Guys, just get ready - in about a week, we’re gonna be down to a bit more than 100 users - WHICH IS BEAUTIFUL!
These users I know that they are real people, here to learn and help.
The truth is, we only have about 25 users - who are active daily.
Which is also amazing! Take a look at apps4flip, they had about 20 daily users. Maybe more, argue with me.
Mitmachim top has about 50 daily users - which is a disaster comparing to their 80k user count.
XDA probably has 1k daily users, which is a nothing comparing to their 10 million + user database.
Let’s be real - that’s our moto!
Question: why don’t any of those forums delete accounts like what you’re doing?
Maybe because even though you’re theoretically right that the users that you’re talking about don’t need an account, and can pretty easily create one if they do, the facts are that having an account makes it more likely for someone to come back or to stick around.
And while the regular users, creators, and participants are the ones that keep everything going and make a forum what it is, the forum is in a big part there for everyone else.
Most of us here might’ve never heard of Apps4flip if it was just its core members.
No one needs or would make a whole professional forum for just 20 people.
So yes, those 400 other people might not need an account, but that,s completely irrelevant. The point is that we still want them around, whether they contribute or not, those users might not see their accounts getting deleted the same way you do, and won’t stay around, and lose visitors and potential contributes and participants.
Arguably, we’ve largely achieved my original goal of being the knowledge source that apps4flip was. Some of our content here is even better than what was available on apps4flip.
The only accounts being deleted are ones who either didn’t keep jtechforums open for 5 minutes, or who didn’t even read 5 topics - over 2 weeks! Given that our forum is public, they can still visit later if they decide to come back.
