Can someone explain to me how QR codes replace SMS messages? I’m not at all clear on that point.
Like adding a device to your WhatsApp account.
Or like Google authenticator.
How could i log on remotely now?

The world is slowly but surely climbing off SMS.
I view SMS as very impractical, and so does Google and iOS making RCS the default - for them it’s the price. SMS is very expensive in big terms.
Would google authenticater still work to authenticate my account

I think so.
Me too. I suspect that SMS will play some role for a while yet, but perhaps a reduced one.
Many people hate rcs and would prefer traditional sms text, why should my texting app turn into a whole fancy chat app that Google connects to my email, enough already, the tech heads are making changes that they enjoy to explore, but not necessarily to the benefit of users, many times too the expense of the users.
