Modding Apps to Root a Device

Did anyone ever try signing an app (like a root file explorer) with the signature of a system package that has root access, and/or renaming the apps package name with the packagetname of the system app, to get root access?

Can you please explain your question a little better what’s your goal?

To root a phone.

Your trying to root the phone or trick the file explorer that the phone is rooted in order to gain root access?

You’re asking a question in a form that it appears to be a result of poor root knowledge

Yes I am very poor in that knowledge and knew I was taking a risk asking it.

Never be afraid to ask questions. It is how you learn.

If that would work, it would be a major security vulnerability that pretty much any app could use to take over the phone.

I hear.
But what if I’m trying convince Android that its a certain package so it would install it over the existing package?

Wasn’t talking to you

Unless it has the same cryptographic signature, you can’t install over the existing package. You can’t replicate the cryptographic signature without stealing the original developer’s private key.
