Qin F21 Pro (US Modified) Review

The Qin F21 Pro is a compact feature phone with smartphone capabilities, modified for use in the United States.

This review is based on the 1.1.1 ROM version (The version provided on XDA Forums).
This is also based on the 3 GB RAM / 32 GB Storage Configuration.

Pros:

  1. Lightweight Design:
The Qin F21 Pro is thin and lightweight, making it easy to carry around.

  2. Decent Battery Life:
Battery performance is acceptable for a device in this category, lasting through a typical day of moderate use.

  3. Android Auto Compatibility:
Android Auto works on the Qin F21 Pro, but performance can be slow.

Cons:

  1. Verizon Compatibility Issues:

    • Picture and video texting (MMS) does not work on Verizon, which is a significant limitation for users on this network.
    • The device requires CDMA-less activation for Verizon and some other carriers, which can be a major hassle. Activating CDMA-less functionality often involves multiple calls to customer service and troubleshooting.
  2. Performance Problems:
The Qin F21 Pro is noticeably slow, with laggy response times and delays when launching apps or performing tasks.

  3. Keypad Integration Needs Improvement:
While the keypad is a core feature, it feels poorly optimized.

  4. Background App Limitations:
Apps requiring background functionality must be made system apps.

  5. Network Limitations:
While the phone is compatible with several US carriers, its functionality may vary depending on the network.

  6. Android Auto Lag:
Android Auto works but suffers from slow performance, making it less reliable.

  7. Build Quality Concerns:
Although the phone is lightweight, it doesn’t feel particularly durable. The plastic build may not withstand rough handling or drops.

Who Should Avoid It?

  • If you are going to use Verizon, I personally think it will just cause a hassle for you and it is not worth the buy.
