I use Google Messages app on my rooted TCL Flip 2. I am trying to get RCS chats to work. @TripleU recommended I download google carrier services app. I did that.
For a long time the setting was stuck on “setting up”. After downloading google carrier service app and deleting the data and cache of the messaging app I got a message that this device doesn’t support RCS chats. I don’t remember getting such a screen so it may have to do with the fact that I got that carrier service app (unless it’s cause I deleted the data and cache).
@sb123 mentioned that RCS won’t work on rooted devices. I am not here to argue with that cause I saw saw that online. My question is how come @Samtee-1 has it working on the Qin F21 Pro (this may be simply cause he used the PIF - Play Integrity Fix magisk module which basically blocks the app from knowing the phone is rooted).
When trying to follow the PIF module on the TCL Flip 2 I just ran into trouble. I kept getting a popup that google play services stopped working.
If anyone has general experience with this or specifically with the TCL Flip 2, or can explain why sometimes the app said it doesn’t support RCS and sometimes it gets stuck on the “setting up” please share below.
