RCS Chats on Rooted Devices

I use Google Messages app on my rooted TCL Flip 2. I am trying to get RCS chats to work. @TripleU recommended I download google carrier services app. I did that.

For a long time the setting was stuck on “setting up”. After downloading google carrier service app and deleting the data and cache of the messaging app I got a message that this device doesn’t support RCS chats. I don’t remember getting such a screen so it may have to do with the fact that I got that carrier service app (unless it’s cause I deleted the data and cache).

@sb123 mentioned that RCS won’t work on rooted devices. I am not here to argue with that cause I saw saw that online. My question is how come @Samtee-1 has it working on the Qin F21 Pro (this may be simply cause he used the PIF - Play Integrity Fix magisk module which basically blocks the app from knowing the phone is rooted).

When trying to follow the PIF module on the TCL Flip 2 I just ran into trouble. I kept getting a popup that google play services stopped working.

If anyone has general experience with this or specifically with the TCL Flip 2, or can explain why sometimes the app said it doesn’t support RCS and sometimes it gets stuck on the “setting up” please share below.

You probably know this but that’s the same issue with the quin f 21 pro

What is the message you get on the Qin when trying to set up RCS?

Just says setting up

Do u have play services installed

Ya

Yes

I’ve seen on custom roms with gapps installed. in Google messages it shows connected but If you try messaging anybody that has RCS it will only work with text because you are not officially certified.

That’s where the pif magisk module comes in

What’s that

Play integrity fix

What does it do

Look at the original post.

Where can I find the pif module?

Samtee the only reason it works for him is because he uses T-Mobile

This worked for me on Verizon as well

Not sure I have it installed now but not helping fix the issue

Just tested it seems like it’s not working what can I do to fix

T-Mobile helped for the MMS issue (voice notes and videos). I don’t think it has to do with RCS.

You have to be using the latest version of magisk with zygisk enabled
