Does anyone have experience using the Sonim Xp3900 on at&t mvno’s?
I have a Verizon unlocked model, and when I put in a SIM card from Good2Go mobile on at&t’s network, texting and data worked but not calling.
They said the IMEI isn’t compatible with at&t mvno’s.
Not sure if it was a problem with the Verizon model, if it was because the phone was defective, if its what they were saying, or something else.
I switched to their service through T-mobile, but it had terrible reception. And I previously had the same service on a T-mobile xp3900, and the reception was way better.
So I’m assuming that the phone is defective, but I’m not sure if thats why it didn’t work with at&t or not.
I’m not sure if its a problem with just my phone or the Verizon firmware, but the apn settings menu is messed up and I any changes I make to the apn settings don’t stay.
But there definitely should be versions that work with at&t mvno’s, its possible the problem is that my phone is defective, its possible that the problem is with the Verizon firmware, it might be a problem on my carriers end.
Is it any changes at all? Did you try editing just one field and pressing save?
Some phones get fussy over MCC/MNC and will disappear with the wrong value.
Tried everything.
Sometimes it would save, and then later disappear, sometimes it won’t save, even when I don’t do anything, it keeps switching between different default settings.
APN (Access Point Name) settings are primarily used for mobile data and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) functionality1,2,3. They act as a bridge between your mobile device and the carrier’s network, allowing your device to access the internet and send/receive multimedia messages4,5,6.
For making calls and sending SMS (text messages), APN settings are not required. Voice calls and SMS use different network protocols that do not rely on APN settings7,8,9.
So, if you’re having trouble with mobile data or MMS, checking and configuring your APN settings might help. But for voice calls and SMS, the issue likely lies elsewhere.
Sorry, gonna have to go with real-life experience over AI…
I have had data working, but calls not working, due to wrong APN.
Not common, but totally plausible.
Something is fishy about my supposedly unlocked phone’s reception.
I went from Lakewood to Monsey today.
On the Garden State Parkway, I didn’t have reception most of the time, only a little bit here and there.
From when I got into Monsey, I lost reception and so far haven’t gotten it back, no matter where I am.
At home, I popped a Verizon (Usmobile’s Warp plan) SIM card into my phone, and I get perfect reception.
Hmm.
It seems to be a problem with my current phone only.
I had a t-mobile version of the xp3plus and it worked perfectly with their t-mobile service, and also used them with their at&t plan on a Kyocera DuraXe epic e4830, right now my sim card that isn’t working with my verizon xp3plus is working perfectly with an at&t sonim xp3800.
