Unlocking A TCL flip 2

My friend has a kyacera cadence. He is trying to use it with an israeli sim. Each time he puts it in he gets an error message sim network unlock pin. His father remembers buying it as an unlocked phone. Anyone knows what this means?

It may have been sold to him as unlocked, but its not actually unlocked. It is Verizon prepaid locked. Technically it may work with Verizon Prepaid/Postpaid and all Verizon MVNO’s, but in reality its prepaid locked phone. You can try calling customer service and if it meets the criteria (active on the network for a specific amount of time) they will try to unlock it. but its a real pain since most of the reps dont actually know how to do it. (Newer phones unlock automatically without manually inputting codes) Give yourself a few hours over a few day period. Good luck and report back here what happens.

I am tryng to unlock a tcl flip 2 from tracfone which requires 60 days of service, which I had already. Up until now when I would call to unlock a phone they would email me 2 sets of codes which you enter after dialing #tfunlock#. Now, for this phone they are telling me to just restart it and wait a couple of hours, which I did already sunday and it didn’t work. I spent tons of time on it and got nowhere. I already ported to us mobile so I can’t even use it now. I also want to use it in israel.
If anyone has experience please respond ASAP.
PS when I put #tfunlock# into the phone it asks me for codes so seemingly there are codes for this phone as well.

They are misinformed. you can usually go to https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/ and follow the steps.

I tried that a few times and it just tells me I am eligable and asks me for my name and email, and I don’t get anywhere.
Though I did make progress today. They sent a request to the higher team to create codes for this phone but they said it can take up to 48-72 business hours and I should call back in a weak. Which is not so pleasant being that I already ported the number this sunday.

Update: They told me since its not unlocking automatically they are gonna contact the manufacturer for the codes. They told me to call back in 3 business days. I called back and they gave me the codes but the codes were wrong. Called them back and they said they are gonna try again. So now I am wating.

I’m pretty sure the newer version of the phone, that comes with the software version KEKA, doesn’t ask for codes. They probably got confused and didn’t realize it was not that version

What is KEKA and how do I know if the phone has that.

It’s just weird cause they told me that my IMEI comes up in there system as unlocked and it doesn’t need codes.

KEKA is the new software version. You can find it in settings>about phone>software information. I’ve seen a lot of the newer phones don’t need unlocking codes to unlock, I’m assuming they can do it remotely

What was the verdict? How did you get it unlocked?.

I never had a chance to see if the phone is running on the KEKA software. But I gave up. Wasn’t worth the headache spending more time after spending so much time on it.

have the same problem First they said that I should turn off the phone and wait a few hours with the new SIM card inside then I called them up because it wasn’t working and they gave me codes but they didn’t work

I had a phone on the KEKA software that didn’t require any unlocking codes,it unlocked automatically after 60 days, it’s possible that if a custom ROM was flashed without the KIKA software,it took away this option to automatically unlock, and asks for codes instead , and they (tracfone) can’t find correct codes because the IMEI on they’re end is KIKA which unlocks automatically.

Hence for the word of caution against flashing or mod-ing the device before getting it unlocked. Buy device. Activate on tracfone or pop in sim card if that still works. Stick in sock drawer for 60 days and then play with the device to your hearts content.

However maybe a solution to this would be to manually flash the KEKA stock Rom, which I haven’t found
The KEKA stock.bin and recovery I have found, but not the actual ROM
I have a kefh software, when I flashed these it stayed kefh, if someone finds the actual ROM for KEKA maybe that will help to get the device unlock back to automatic instead of a code (which the code might not exist due to the fact that the IMEI is associated with the keka software which automatically unlocks)

If someone got there phone filtered in tag is it a lost case?

If tag put on the purifone filter it would be fine, the purifone filter doesn’t change the software from KEKA

What about the kosher cell one?

What method do they use?

I think it’s the same as the kosher ROMs on apps4flip. We’re those removable?
