Updating WebView

Anyone ever succeeded to update or switch WebView?

What’s the point?

The point would be to be able to run Jtechforums WebView app. Even though you said it needs certain browsers to run, but if I could update the WebView to use one of the supported browsers I should be able to run the app.

You could try Android System Webview Canary.

An updated WebView won’t help.
My Sonim has a newer WebView and has no problem rendering sites that most flip phone’s WebView can’t render, but it still can’t render this forum.

I am actually posting this from a webview. will try to post about it tomorrow.

Which webview?

Got it works perfectly (even works with the dpad)

I got the latest version of WebView from apkpure but all I got was this screen:

It may help to make it a system app but @anonymousfliphones told me he tried that and it didn’t help. I kept getting this screen:

@ars18 gave me the idea to get this GitHub - Magisk-Modules-Alt-Repo/open_webview: A magisk module created to replace system webview. Once I downloaded it the newer WebView version showed up in the list of WebView implementation:

Now the WebView version of JtechForums works perfectly!
